directions info

The Road is Grant Road not street the street takes you way far away. Bingham becomes Fs 135 then goes into a Y or fork bear right and that IS 129 after a mile as you go over another narrow bridge bear right and your at council camp. So far seems quiet and friendly only 30 people. I'm a mile or so on telegraph hill to send this. Grant Rd is the important change and really should get done if you have time. And Bingham becomes 135. See ya. Very rainy right now.

Organic Grocer

Hi,
Just learned that the phone number I posted for The Natural Store in Kane PA was incorrect, the correct number is 814-837-6620. I just called it myself and confirmed this.
Please send to all Kitchen Focalizers and Main Supply, and sorry if this error caused any confusion.
- Jen

***************
Howdy Folks,
I'm Jen from Turtle Soup Kitchen with some info to share.
I just got some great information to share with all Kitchens, and MainSupply.
There is a local organic/natural grocer called The Natural Store in Kane,PA, which should be pretty close to the final gathering site. Theowners name is Judy, and the phone number is 814-994-9174.
A bit of online research led us to call Judy today, and she is more thanhappy to order cases of produce and dry goods for the family.
As I understand things, orders placed this week for bulk and case itemswill be ready for pick up by the 26th, so you will need to pre order. Please contact Judy to Confirm. The larger the quantity ordered, thebetter the price for all of us, so please pass this along to all theKitchen Focalizers you know.
Turtle Soup Kitchen will be placing an order with her this week.
Peace,
Jen

Tuesday Update

As of last night when I left, there were still about 10 cars and about
3 school buses left at the bear creek rec area. Others had gone off to
look at sites and some had dispersed to various locations around the
forest. For now this is still the spot to hit the land and plug in.
There has been informal discussion of keeping camps dispersed and
under 75 to avoid the obvious resulting hassles.

Law enforcement presence is relatively light with the PA state
troopers driving through about twice daily.

On Saturday evening after council the forest supervisor and the two
district rangers paid us a welcome call. They seem to be very
welcoming, they came without leos and brought us maps and photography
of some locations they thought would be good gathering sites.

We've worked with some of these people in the past regarding ops plans
and other health and safety concerns for recent regional gatherings,
they seem very much wanting to work closely with us again on
health/safety planning and operational/logistical issues. There was no
mention of "the permit" during this visit.

Here's their info:

Forest Service
Allegheny National Forest
29 Forest Service Drive
Bradford, PA 16 701
PH: 814-363-6098
FAX: 814-362-2761

We've worked closely with Tony in the past and he's good to work with
and understands how to communicate with us well.

I have both Anthony and Leanne's cell numbers available on request.

The second district ranger was Robert Fallon, but he didn't have any
business cards available. I believe he's out of the Marienville
office.

Updated Spring Council Directions

*****Updated Directions*******. I received a call from a sister at
the spring council site Friday, June 4 in the am (Cali time). The
exit numbers on Interstate 80 have changed. The old exit and the new
exit is listed on the sign. but if you're coming off I-80 - use New
Exit #111. Then turn right on 153 and right on 219. From there the
original directions are good. There is a lot of construction on the
roads so be cautious. About 10 people are at the council site now.
Hopefully more will be arriving shortly. Sheets Convenience Store no
longer exits.

Here is another set of directions from Ridgeway

From downtown Ridgway PA, at the intersection of 219 and 948 (Main Street):
Take Main Street (948) West approximately 1 mile
Turn Right on Grant Street follow for 2.2 miles
Turn left onto Bingham Rd then in 0.6 miles turn left to stay on Bingham Rd
In 1.6 miles continue on Forest Road 135 Approximately 5 miles

Message from Cuba

For fun the really late GPS corodinates are something like n 36.04039
by w 106.78108. I finally got to the library here at Cuba.. All the
clean up has been done for over a week now maybe 2 weeks and the
final trash also. The abandoned cars (last 2) the head on collisions
were towed off for free Aug. 2 by a local thanks to a San Diegan named
AXX who found a yard with wrecks and tow vehicles. And old
SXX car got fixed. So now it is formally all over and a great
cleanup. The trash was out a week earlier than expected, the earliest
EVER. I have the sign off sheet it was given to us even before the
last 2 vehicles were towed. One is mailed to GXX I gave one to
MXX I still have 2 and I gave one to VXXwho said he'd mail a copy
to PXX. We in all had at least 4 tows for free and we fixed the
FXX bus at some cost and another car at some cost. Then SXXX
and RXX tyranny at also a cost but not bad. SXX got
fixed by VXX of Lovin Oven and Barking lot and shuttle, she got
her own parts, timing belt etc and computer work. The site looks
great. I logged Telegraph hill (high wholly) and Handicamp to slow
down traffic for growth. The F.S. locals will later cut and log all
roads in. This was a project planned long before we arrived. They
attempted to halt all traffic a few years ago. The grass has grown
immensely and over 5 inches in some areas. SCROLL camps fire pit has
a 5 " growth. Even the roads have lots of grass especially near Trade
Circle. Hundreds of aggressive cows and bulls chased us and our dogs
all over the place. An elk was spotted and lots of birds and also
Ravens everywhere. So all is well. The local thrift shop came up
several times to find stuff out of our trash and to be social. Many
many locals came up to help and visit. I went to the County Fair and
all were cordial. The Cuba News will allow me to print a thank you as
we sometimes do, only this time for free, if I get to it on time.
They also want fotos and may give us an entire page. I'm guessing all
of you heard of DXXX from Calm ripping off the family and supply /
bank $ as well as robbing LXXX and PXXX as well as many others.
We were all shocked we all knew he was a bit disturbed but never
expected that. As the reports go he has done similar actions to other
groups also. Even the local health inspectors were surprised yet did
not trust him from the beginning due to his arrogance and erratic
behavior. However he sort of fooled everyone. You can send this out
to anyone or edit it as you wish. I will be in town for a few more
days then off to see N.M. etc.
